EVENTING - TRAGIC ACCIDENT CLAIMS THE LIFE OF EVENT RIDER AT BALLINDENNISK

Event rider and TV presenter Karen Rodgers, was tragically killed, in what has been described as a freak accident, while competing in the CNC ** on the cross country course with her horse Kilcoltrim Brigade at the One-Day Event at Ballindenisk, Co. Cork.
British born Karen was a very experienced rider
A full investigation is now being carried out into the circumstances of this the accident.

Round Up of this month's Hunter Trials By R. Richard

Poor weather conditions forced the cancellation of a number of Hunter Trials over Easter weekend.
Kill Harriers Hunter Trial due to be run on 23rd March has now been postponed until 20th April.>>

Under European law, ALL horses and ponies must have identity documents (passports) and these must accompany them whenever they are moved - this includes all shows, events and schooling.
Authorised officers from the Department of Agriculture will be conducting spot checks to ensure compliance with this legislation, contravention of which is an offence.
Legislation currently in force, the European Communities (Equine Stud-book and Competition) Regulations 2004 (SI 399/2004) and the European Communities (Equine Stud-book and Competition) (Amendment) Regulations 2007 (SI 530/2007), prohibits movement, trade or the participation of horses and ponies in shows, races, competitions, sales, marts etc without appropiate identity documents(passports).

FEI Tribunal To Receive File of Castle Forbes Maike Ridden By Jessica Kurten

The complete file on the positive medication case involving the horse Castle Forbes Maike ridden by Jessica Kuerten (IRL) at CSI 5* La Baule in May 2007 has been forwarded to the FEI Tribunal. The Tribunal’s decision will be announced and published as soon as it is taken. The FEI Tribunal is composed of a chair and members with proven legal expertise and appropriate knowledge and experience of equestrian sport. The members of the Tribunal are elected by the FEI General Assembly and are independent of the FEI Bureau, Technical Committees and Headquarters. |
