If you're looking for a calmer, I use NAF Five Star Magic and it seems to work well for Ali. Every horse is different though :)

Thanks AB
Have tried that and noticed no discernable difference!
Have tried a number of others largely magnesium based
So believe it is not a magnesium deficiency
came across D&H Placid - just wondering does anyone have any experience with it?

NAF Easy Going might be another one to consider then - I've seen some good "reviews" for it on other forums :)

hi gusssmith, have had good result with those herbs (used to make up my own mixes).
vervain works on the nervous system while chammomile is a good one for calming without making too drawsy just takes the edge off. It doesnt have valerian and hops which is good as its quite a strong herb and valerian is not allowable for competiting. (am assuming the horse is being ridden? if not i have used valerian on a yard horse to keep him relaxed on box rest). Skullcap is an interesting herb it can be effective in humans with migraine and epilepsy
great to hear you tried to see if its a magnesium deficiency first, often peopke just put horses on a calmer without thinking of this first.
while the D&H product will build up over time, for an on the spot extra boost i.e. at shows etc i have found oxyshot and herbalwise 'happy days' very good
