Two guests of bf's are over from the Czech republic, she did a demo with bf's hunter, she rode with no bridle in Ring 4 over some jumps.

Anyone see it?

Cassun, there's a small video of Saturday's, i'll send it to you when I get a copy.

It was good - she rode around the ring for a while in a headcollar and lead rope, then took it all off, and cantered around. She made it look so easy. Then she popped a few jumps, and then pushed him off to a great gallop. She wove him round all the fences with no bridle, it was good to watch.

CS you're doing better than me so!

I know girls   She made it look easy! She was very very calm and had been working with him for just a day previously. The horse looked totally tuned in to her, ears pricked, happy out, doing what was asked. Impressive stuff. And he is a hunting horse, he loves to go!

I used to ride my horse in a headcollar but not really anymore, the last time i rode with the headcollar I noticed he pulls a lot more now, made me realise I'm not riding him correctly in a bridle if he's now pulling - i must've inadvertently encouraged (or failed to correct) that.

I think it was but not sure. It was advertised on those big computer screens though and announced. Sure its hard to keep up with everything going on there.

She's taken a liking to my horse and wants to do some work with me and him - i'm delighted. She might be doing a small clinic - can let you know if you're interested!

I was at the Equine Conference and it was a great three days - Katya was very good (as were all of the demos) - I wasnt expecting much to be honest and thought here we go more Parelli 'my way is right and traditional methods are wrong' but I was pleasantly surprised. She has a very good way about her and had a big HW hunter riding softley and responsively within a very short space of time with him and jumped him too without a bridle. I saw Parelli & co in action in Birmingham a couple of years ago and what I saw there left me very unimpressed. Their so called experienced pupils were awful and wooden and had startled, bored confused looking horses going through movements without any apparent purpose or reason. The Parellis themselves were annoying and it was like being at a cult gathering rather than anything else - I'll stop there as this is a whole other discussion and I cant really put in writing what Im trying to say!
Katya was refreshing after that - she is patient and is a natural horsewoman. I guess I admired the way she worked patiently with the individual horse and their needs to show positive good results

So are the two women more IH and good riders or another overpriced repackaging of old knowledge?

I hope some kids didn't get any funny ideas about riding with no tack. Very easy to invalidate insurance in that way! I find it sligthly worrying when people forget insurance companies are businesses that would gladly get out of having to pay up in any way.

Longtimelurker, it's great to hear back on Katia from a neutral observer :) I find it hard to convey how good she is. She's an interesting person, and herself and her friend are coming back to stay with us again soon - can't wait  I was gutted I was away for work when that seminar was on.

That HW hunter was bf's RID, lovely lovely horse.
