Ok so i've been researching a little bit of nh to try and get a feel for it, I've just noticed on any site or clinic relating to NH it says no stallions and just out of curiosity I ask why? even parrelli's website says if your a trainer and you accept stallions you are not aloud train anymore.
Secondly, see the halters and lead ropes can you please tell why are they better to use than standard ones?
Thanks :)

I don't know the answer but i know a girl in the UK who does alot of NH and teaches it and does clinics etc and she was at least one stallion and uses him for displays

That's odd. I used to ride a stallion in the UK for an owner and he was quite difficult (the horse that is, not the owner :D ), so they used to send him off to Richard Maxwell ever so often for refreshers.

the difference with the halters and lead ropes are that you can train your horse with release and pressure with the NH halters and the lead ropes are always about 12ft or longer to give the horse more space if they get paniced. well thats my understanding of them, i have both and find them great

i have no idea why they don't train stallion's but i will find out
the halters and ropes are designed for communication between you and you horse:nod:

It's not that stallions aren't trained but I imagine it's probably not ideal to have a stallion at a clinic where some of the participants might be relatively inexperienced - and it would put up the insurance.
A rope halter gives a much more direct feel and more control, more like a bridle. An ordinary headcollar won't act as a deterrent to a bolshy horse.

Are the NH rope halters the same as the old fashioned rope halters we would use on the farm? Dad ties them by hand. I prefer leading horses in them and they don't move about on the horse's head and give much more direct communication with the horse particularly with happy youngsters.

Yup - they're different, thanks. I must take a pic of one next time I'm down home. Simpler design and a thicker rope (which burns though).
Sorry Little Miss - went off topic.
