hi Stencilbum, I clip a shamrock into on of my friends horses and it looks great I think it would be a brilliant stencil for the Irish market as its also seen as a symbol of Ireland
something simple like this:
http://i96.photobucket.com/albums/l184/siogfinsceal/shamrock.png
You could also incorporate it into your letter option ones i.e. you could give the option of the shamrock shape with a letter in the centre like you do with your hearts and stars I think this would be very popular
another idea I have is the claddagh symbol (you may need to check trademark!), its another traditional irish symbol and is very recognisable. A simple version of this would be lovely:

Hi all
If it is of help to you -Here (http://www.smartgrooming.co.uk/clipping-stencils.html) - is a link to my distributors website where you can see the designs which are being offered at present to Eire.
As said above, I can clean up the designs so don't worry if you aren't that accurate, but not being Irish, I don't really have much of an idea of what people would like to put on their horses.
Some good ideas above :)
Thanks Ash

few more ideas for you:
You gotta have at least one Guiness type one! Some variation of their symbol - like the name and the harp:
http://i96.photobucket.com/albums/l184/siogfinsceal/guiness.jpg
Also, one simply in the shape of ireland would be nice:
http://i96.photobucket.com/albums/l184/siogfinsceal/mapofireland.jpg
You have got to have a leprechaun!
http://i96.photobucket.com/albums/l184/siogfinsceal/leprechaun2.jpg
and of course some kind of hurling themed one with a hurl and sliotar
http://i96.photobucket.com/albums/l184/siogfinsceal/hurlnsliotar2.jpg
Last but not least the trinity
http://i96.photobucket.com/albums/l184/siogfinsceal/trinity.jpg
some phrase ones:
"whose bringing the horse to france"
"Tir Na Nog"
"Capall Alainn"
"CSI Ireland" :D

Well TBH, I struggled with it a bit. All the ideas were original and out of my usual sphere of thought, Hmm choices, choices!!!!!.
You have all given me some great ideas which I will use as the basis of some bespoke Irish designs which I'll offer to the market.
I'd like to give you all a prize for your efforts, but putting my sensible head on, I need to really focus on the job in hand.
I decided that although there was only going to be one winner, I had to include some of the other entries as 'runners up' as I will be using them (or forms of them as the basis of some new designs).
The four runners up are as follows. All will receive either a standard stencil from my existing libarary, or some sticky simple shapes as you wish (stars or shamrocks, hearts etc) :-
I like the Celtic knot designs having already started with the Triquetra, so this one by 'Storm' will become a good addition to this line.
http://i274.photobucket.com/albums/jj273/Photostorm/Miscellaneous/Celtic_Shapes.jpg
I also felt this one by 'xxKarenxx' was a worthy inclusion because it represented something close to the Irish people (my grandmother was Irish and fairly devout)
http://i251.photobucket.com/albums/gg318/karengibney/shieldknot.jpg
Also I use stars a lot already in my other stencils so this one by 'Teegee' has to be included - why didn't I think of this ??
http://i94.photobucket.com/albums/l88/WatchHorse/euro.jpg
The Triskele also by 'millies mum', Very cool Celtic symbol (and also clippable :D )
http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/hh117/tom-n-monsie/triskellstencil.jpg
I finally chose this one as the winner by 'Red Rosette' who has won a custom scripted (worded) design of your choice and a sheet of simple clipping shapes. I felt it was a fairly strong symbol for Eire, and also a good designation clipped onto Irish Bloodstock.

Well done to those of you who won, and thank you all for making the effort to take part.
Could the winners please PM me with your choices and also addresses to send them out to.

After a bit of a delay due to me losing email at home completely for more than a week (Cable modem failure), I'm now posting out to the prize winners.
Red Rosette & Storm will have theirs over the next few days, but I need names and addresses (as well as choices) from Teegee, Millies Mum & xxKarenxx
If you want them ASAP, you'll need to come forward quickly, as I am also deep in preparation for the Your Horse Live show at the National Agricultural Showground at Stoneleigh in England this coming friday, saturday and sunday (anyone going from here, come and see me on stand 31)
Thanks Ash

Here are some tips for working with the stencils so you can get the best results from your own efforts :-
Q) My stencil doesn't stick - I had a lady contact me recently saying that the stencil she chose didn't stick to her horses coat very well, why not, and what could she (I) do to improve it ?
A) Like our own hair, a horses coat is protected by the natural oils produced at the root.
The clipping stencils are made from very sticky self adhesive vinyl, but dust & dandruff as well as the natural oils will affect their adhesion qualities quite dramatically.
If you left your own hair for 6 weeks without washing it with a just a brush 3 times a week, you would expect it to be fairly greasy from these natural oils, so it is only fair to expect your horses coat to be in a similar condition regardless of how clean it looks.
This is obviously good for your horse as it provides a waterproof barrier, but it could cause a problem when applying a clipping stencil.
It is very important to have a grease and dust free coat for the stencil to stick to, and we get around this by cleaning and drying the area where the stencil is to be applied for best adhesion. Used the wipe supplied to degrease the area where the design is going.
Get this degreasing bit right, and they can be fairly resistant to removal after you finish clipping (make sure you peel off in the direction of the coat to save a waxing effect )
Q) When is the best time to clip a design on for longevity of appearance.
A) Your horses coat grows with the seasons and the growing cycles are affected by the amount of daylight hours - The winter coat stops growing a few weeks after the winter Solstice (Jan), and the summer coat about the same after the Summer Solstice (July).
Many owners choose to clip three times in a winter season, In the UK, the first is the end of September, the middle of November, and finally early in January.
Obviously many people put designs on at the point of the first clip in September/October, but as the coat grows quickly then will need to go back around it every few weeks to maintain its appearance.
(Tip) Clip a design on your horse Just after Christmas, and it will last without any need for adjustment until the winter coat sheds which could be as late as the end of May.
Likewise for those who don't show, We have found out with experimentation that a Stencil design can be clipped on in June and it will stay very clear on the coat until August time. It also has the added bonus that as the summer coat is very fine, we can clip more challenging designs with finer detail
Q) How long do they take to do ?
A) How long is a piece of string ?, If you would like a design on your horse but haven't the patience to clip an intricate one on, pick a simple one to start with so you learn how the system works, and make sure you don't do it on a pony which has cushings with a full winter coat, as it will take an age to do.
If you were to sit down in the hairdressers and they took 2 minutes to cut your hair, you would rightly feel like you weren't getting your moneys worth, and have a good suspicion that they haven't done the best job they could for you.
The same applies to the stencils. The devil is in the detail as the saying goes, so if you want a complicated design (and it to look good) be patient and expect it to take upwards of half an hour to put it on, so acquire a set of trimmers for the job in hand, keep them well oiled every couple of minutes and don't rush it.
Ash :)
