jods
I love Tally Hos sticky bum ones, they have saved me on more than one occasion, but the white ones stain really badly. The normal yard colours are great though. I also love Dublin sticky bums because they aren't expensive and wash really well so my show ones are always coming out well. They also come in short leg.

Gloves
I love the Roekel ones but they don't always last very well. My new pink SS ones are cool too!

human boots and chaps
Aigle jod boots have lasted years and still clean up well. They are a good narrow fit. Ariats are brilliant, the Devon Pro are my favourite but unless they are on sale I refuse to buy them, I'm a bit cheap. Tredstep gaiters all the way!

supplements
Iron Xcell is great for something a little bit sluggish. Garlic for everybody and Carron Oil for everybody too.

shampoo and grooming products
Carr Day & Martin Black Magic for Ispin. It makes her lovely and colour comes out very deep. For Diarmuid I have found the Gallop shampoo brilliant.

horse boots
Dalmar are brilliant but I lost one so a bit sad cos I can't afford a new set. Pemier Equine XC boots and over reachers are fantastic. For SJ I love the Clarendon leather and sheepskin boots.

saddlecloths
I'm not that fussy about these, I usually just pick up cheap and cheerful ones but I must stop buying them! 2 horses do not need over 70 numnahs

leather cleaner and conditioner
Mum does most of my tack cleaning so I'd have to ask her :D I like the spray stuff, mainly because I'm lazy and it is quick to use.

rugs
I like Masta ones.

Great thread LMM

jods
For everyday riding i love the shires saddlehuggers,, i got a pair of TRI turfmaster ones yesterday so looking forward to seeing how they last.
My good ones are Pikeur princess ones and i love them. must pick up a pair with the stg exchange rate being so good.. (£85 stg through derby house online €150 in TRI.. bit of a difference)

Gloves
Got a pair of Macwets in the RDS in the summer so far so good. I really like them. Every day though im usually in my cheap cotten (usually end up fingerless gloves)

human boots and chaps Tredstep gaiters and half chaps for me. I usually get whatever cheapo jodphur boots are on sale but i got a nice pair of toggi ones for Christmas. I will eventually save up for another pair of ariats

supplements Always garlic as an everyday things. Ozzy hasnt been on anything else.. My last mare was on "slut mix" 24/7 sorted her out a bit.

shampoo and grooming products
My all time favourite shampoo is Vetrolin Bath,, huge bottle for about €20 lasts for ages. Love mane and tail conditioner, i found it great for doing quarter markers this year.

horse boots Leather brushing boots i got in berneys 5 years ago, still going strong. Eskadron x country tendon boots love them. Brown leather tendon boots and fetlock boots from equiport

saddleclothsI have a lot of horseware ones. get them when there on sale. i have to have velcro openings on them. Mattes sheapskin half pads.

leather cleaner and conditioner Stuben saddle soap and hammernol (sp) polish along with leather balm (think its carr day & martin)

rugs all mine are horseware bar a pink cotton Masta cooler which is the best.

jods
I love my Pikeurs with the full seat (I think it's leather). I have two pairs exactly the same - bought one and got the other as a present. Millions of various other brands at home, but these are far and away the best for competing IMO.

Gloves
Love the Roekl ones - great grip.

human boots and chaps
Ariats Cobalt devon thingies and Ariat gaiters. Had treadstep for years which were fab too.
supplements
Nothing too fancy - big bucket of electrolytes, Rockie salt mineral lick and lots of oil. Equi-jewel counts as a supplement too I suppose.

shampoo and grooming products
Supreme products are excellent. Their stuff for easy plaiting is fantastic. Have tried other versions from other manufacturers and nothing comes close. Henara red hair shampoo is fab for bringing out coppery tones in chestnuts - probably safer to stick with the horsie versions if you have sensitive souls though.

horse boots
Dalmar eventer boots and NEW fleece lined cross country boots. They are fantastic and I have had reason to thank my lucky stars for having them on. Not cheap though

saddlecloths
Merino Sheepskin numnahs for fancy things and wherever I will be in saddle for some time, i.e. hunting charity rides and polypads for every day.

leather cleaner and conditioner
Carr and Day and Martin and some French stuff which comes in a big yellow tin. Fantastic stuff if I could remember the name...

rugs
Bucas and Horseware.

GLOVES ; Dont wear the riding usually but if it is cold I love my close fit leather ones but cant remember make

HUMAN BOOTS / CHAPS Have to be my mountain horse stirrup control system for every day use with treadstep half-chaps but I bought a lovely pair of Italian leather joh boots and half-chaps in the RDS and they are fab (again cant remember make)

SUPPLEMENTS - H doesnt get much in the way of supplements - plenty of oils mixed in her food and sometimes seaweek. I am thinking of getting her a joint supplement from next year on - Ned Going in Anglesea Lodge has a great one.

SHAMPOO/GROOMING PRODUCTS - Non show washes I use a shampoo from Tesco that costs 65cent for a large bottle (green shampoo) but I love the Silver one for H cause she is grey. C D & M products for mane and tail

HORSE BOOTS - Everyday use Eskadron tendon and fetlock boots but I love my fleece lined ones for shows when it is not wet and mucky.

Tredstep gaiters seem really popular! Which is great as I was eying them up in holmestead yesterday. Any idea where is the best place to get them and are they and use for short legged people? (had to get my brogini leather boots cut down they were eating the back of my knee!). and does anyone know if you can still get frank ward ones anywhere?

xxkarenxx
22-12-2008, 03:29 PM
Holmestead are pretty good for Tredstep. They come in different leg lengths and width so they fit everybody....even us shorties :D

Little-Miss-Muppet
22-12-2008, 03:45 PM
nice one Karen I will be looking for some after christmas - I hate that 'digging in under your knee' feeling so its good they do different lengths. They have a lovely selection strategically placed at the top of the stairs!

longtimelurker
22-12-2008, 04:48 PM
echo Karen - they're the best for fit because they come in so many different calf and leg lengths - Im also a shortie yet take a 14" calf and 16" long treadstep! Must be very odd shape :)

George Schumacher - Coronett style usually, love the cut, love the leather seat on big movers and love the colours. QUOTE]

I bought a wine cord pair of these for everyday with the full leather seat, but ended up never wearing them. I found them quite a weird fit, with a small waist and then really big flared hips... They were a bit like the really old fashioned elephant ear breeches!! Which are the nicest styles? I must have a look at that brand again, because I obviously went with a weird fit!!

Druid
23-12-2008, 02:39 PM
Oh - now I like them because they have a very fitted waist and fit normally through the hips/thighs. Usually if I buy breeches that fit on thighs/hips they gape at teh waist and if I buy to fit my waist they are tight on my thighs!
