Anyone use them - after my mammoth 5 hours in the saddle on Sunday I have come to the conclusion I need any help I can get with my knees and my one dodgy ankle...I ride quite short to hunt for security reasons but that means my knees take a lot of the strain and one of the guys from the yard uses sprengers & swears by them...anyone else have any opinions/experience?

which ones are they 1ws? I was looking the other day at the ones that are metal but the sides are black rubber covered metal - was wondering what they are like. Are those the ones?

These guys...bow balance - have seen them on ebay for about €100 plus postage which is a lot for a pair of stirrups but for knee preservation I think it might be worth saving the pennies

thats the ones i am thinking of. I have never used them myself but I think it was on another forum that people joint problems found them beneficial?
I can understand needing them for hunting- my knees used to end up so sore after a long day hunting!

Am I right in thinking theres a lot of imitation sprengers around? as in stirrups that look similar at the side with the rubber covered pieces but that are not actuall the same at the top. Ive seen pairs for 20 or 30 euro of that type but imagined they must not give the same benefits.

I have problems with both my ankles - broke my right ones when i was much younger and about 4 years ago, did my ligaments in on the left one.

I use, the flexi stirrups- just normal irons with a joint on the sides and covered in black rubber. They were about €40 and i definately notice the difference. I know Equus just bought a pair through EDS for around €60

In TRI they had lovely lightweight cheese grater stirrups but had flexi-sides. They were €150 i liked but resisted! A friend has them and swears by them!

yeah thats the ones FD saw them but was not sure if you still got the joint benefits with the cheaper ones. Great to hear they have worked for you!. Nice saving on the sprengers too at only 40 euro.
I must think about getting a pair like that at some stage I don't hunt but my knees get sore XC or if I ride for a few hours

1WS I think i saw some like FD's ones either in TRI or on horze.com

I found the bendi ones great but I suppose the "real" sprenger ones have to be more beneficial, id say the design process and research that went into them is huge, probably reflects the price.

Yeah I found the links to new rider about the sprengers, I remember people were always talking about them over there they seem to be worth the money as theres loads of people found them brilliant for knees and ankles.

a girl in the yard was goign to buy them but after speaking to the sales assistant in horse heaven ( I think ) she didn't get them them as they encourage your toes to stick outwards and if they do a little already they will be twice as bad in these stirrups ( or at least that was what the sales assistant said )

I've never tried them so I dont know

I have used 'bendy' stirrups for the past couple of years but like FoxyDee mine are the cheaper ones...they do the same job though  I used to get awful pains in my ankles but not any more thanks to my 'bendies' :D

I'm sure you'll find a huge difference when you start using them too 1WS

i have the imitation ones, got them for around 25e in an equestrian shop in carlow. i have a dodgy knee from having my kneecap kicked out by my old pony so need them, find it hard if i ride in anything else and i found they also helped my lower back. i think i might have a 4.5 inch -5inch at home that i dont use, if i can find them i can sell them to you if that size fits

We have been using them for years here - great for saving knees. But i have just gotten Ankys version in the shop which are basically identical and cheaper - €86. Or theres a really cheap verison - not sure how good they are though - for €30

I ride in bendy Sprenger Irons, although not the same ones as the initial link. I like them.

yep I am the same and with my dodgy ankle I notice a HUGE difference. My ankle begins to hurt me very quickly when I ride in normal stirrups but with the bendy ones they never get sore. I would definitally recomend them!

I had a pair but actually had to stop using them when i tore ligaments in my ankle...they were extremely uncomfortable. i use prestige plastic ones now...love them!
