I am short and have very large calves - I'm a decent size 16 at the best of times and 15 years of irish dancing have left me with calves that would put most charolais bullocks to shame. The quest for "perfect legs" is underway, in the meantime I would like to find a pair of gaiters or leather half chaps which fit. I found a pair in the RDS last year but the elastic isn't of great quality. Any advice?

ive the same problem, short but huge calves. for general riding i use holmestead chaps, think they sell them on there website, they also stretch over time. for leather ones i tried tredstep pro gaiter, 17 calf and 16 length and were great, just unfortunately cant afford them but cal has them for a very good price on www.chshowing.com
What size are u? I can have a look and see what's out there to fit you - I'm sure there's an ariat or tredstep that would.

after an accident years ago i have one calf 2 inches wider than the other ( the weaker leg has the wider calf to compensate for the knee ) so I had to have my gaiters made for me .
Tally ho will make them you just have to go to one of their agents to get measured .

Ohhhh i'm so with you on the bigger calves, I'm tall but i've legs like tree trunks! Riding boots are just not an option for me but i did manage to find a gaiter that fits! Shires would you believe!! Think there 16x16 or something.

i used to always have to get my chaps made in holmestead when i was younger (legs were like sticks!) got a pair of dublin chaps recently on sale in galway and they fit perfect, Dublin i think they are, they're the only pair of pre-made chaps i've ever tried that fit me! really comfy too

Ive large enough calves too - I find anything by ariat great, just really comfy and fit really well. I tried tredstep before but just wasnt mad on them....just didnt feel right.
Definately try go try on a pair of ariat chaps or gaiters. Definately is a bonus that CHShowing.com also has a sale on :)

I have the same problem, so I got them made for me. I dont know where you are - I went to Saoirse in Ballinasloe, they measured me and Tally Ho made them, 100 euro tho! If you can find anyone selling Tuffa stuff they go up really big.
