does any of you have a spare body protector?
im looking for two of them actualy .
1 . for a 14 yr old and 1 . small adult size.

I'd really be inclined to go to a tack shop that has staff properly trained in fitting body protectors and buy from there. We have had loads of clients at the riding school turn up with completely unsuitable body protectors. It puts the school in a difficult position. If we advise a client not to wear it as it isn't a suitable fit and they have a fall in their lesson we could be liable but if it doesn't fit and causes them to have an accident we could also be liable.

Safety instructions accompanying riding hats normally state that they should be replaced immediately if they suffer a severe impact such as from a fall or being dropped onto a hard surface.

As the protection offered also diminishes over time and the padding inside becomes compressed, they should routinely be replaced every 3-4 years even if they still look fine.

The same applies the padding inside Body Protectors. The foam will eventually deform offering less protection to the wearer. I would be wary of buying a seconhand BP as you will not know the age or amount of falls of the BP

You can purchase new BP online and make significant savings.

+1 what PC said. I know the staff in horseware are trained in fitting a as a friend used to work there. also berneys are good I went with a friend to get one recently and they did also sorts of fitting had her sit up on the saddle etc to make sure it was right for her.

You could always get sizes in a shop and then buy online when you know the right size and brand you want. Its a good time to buy theres sales on everywhere it seems!
