I am considering doing some shopping. Anyone come across these before? Any opinions?

The following is some of the blurb from the website. My thinking - Molly is quite inclined to lock her jaw or try to run through the bit, when she does soften I am not always quick enough to feel this and allow her to move into the softer contact. These reins look like they might help us out. They're expensive, but I've spent 12 months rehabilitating her from some very inappropriate schooling, she's only starting to grasp the inside and outside rein might be for different things.

"It is a rein that can benefit all disciplines of riding be it dressage jumping or hacking. Its simple, but the best ideas often are and its certainly effective. We have asked many top riders and trainers across the different disciplines to test the reins and the positive feedback is unanimous.”- Carl Hester

The Fantastic Elastic rein (you may remember that Carl trained a horse of that name to Grand Prix) is a top quality British leather hand stitched product, was launched by Carl at the Your Horse Live Event at Stoneleigh N.A.C.

Developed as a Training Aid, the Fantastic Elastic rein produces a better feel, by connnecting horse and rider with elasticity, providing the following advantages.

ELIMINATES RESISTANCE
HELPS MAINTAIN STILL HANDS
TAKES AWAY TENSION IN SHOULDERS
ENCOURAGES SOFTNESS AND ELASTICITY
DEVELOPS A STEADY CONTACT
CONNECTS HORSE AND RIDER

They look very interesting - not a bad price either - Has anyone tried them or seen them used?

You see in theory this could be the solution to my boy locking and leaning on one rein and for his habit of curling up and getting behind the contact.....but they aren't cheap & I'd love to hear of someone who has used them...

Might be worth doing a search on HHO to see if there's any feedback there

I bought myself a similar pair on ebay last year, after seeing Carl use them on a horse. And they were brilliant, however, all it proved to me was I needed to work on my riding and ride leg to hand. The elastic in the rein was disguising any tension in my hand, and once I took them off, I was right back to where we left off, and my horse was even less tolerant of my hand, having got used to the give in the elastic

I've been using them for about 6months now, I find them really good, I had a light contact anyhow perhaps too light & they enabled me to take up a better contact without my worrying about my horses mouth etc my horses goes better I find .. i'ma fan anyhow :)
